Welcome!

Hi there folks!

Welcome to this Spirituality and Teaching blog which is aimed at supporting the special interest group we have set up in this area. There has been lots of interest in the special interest group and I thought this blog would be a great way of connecting and sharing the wonderful work people are doing in this area.

Thank you very much to Danni for setting the blog up for us. All we need now is people to contribute to it to make it a great resource for all.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Warmest regards,
Jon

  1. Dear Friends,

Having retired from clinical practice and teaching to write, I am not so closely involved in teaching as before, but I retain a lively interest in the aspirations of this group, and wish to contribute whatever I can.

Although I am unlikely to be able to attend the meeting on 5th September 2011, I hope you won't mind me mentioning an article I wrote outlining my experience teaching medical students. [Culliford, l. (2009) ‘Teaching spirituality and health care to third-year medical students’. The Clinical Teacher, 6, 1, 22-7.] Please contact me if you would like a copy.

May I also please mention my book, published last November by Jessica Kingsley, entitled 'The Psychology of Spirituality: an introduction'? It is designed for people looking for something to use as a textbook. See www.jkp.com or http://www.amazon.co.uk/Psychology-Spirituality-Introduction-Larry-Culliford/dp/184905004X/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1310123228&sr=1-1

All reviews so far have been favourable. Psychologist Ingrid Slack, for example, in a review for the forthcoming Journal for the Study of Spirituality, wrote, “The structure of the book reinforces its teaching role through the excellent use of summaries after each chapter as well as exercises, encouragement for personal reflection and group discussion”. Her review continues, “I think this is a brilliant book which anyone interested in spirituality or who is simply on his or her own spiritual path should read. It is exciting, inspiring and uplifting”.

    With very best wishes,

    Larry.
